• Disconnect the power supply from the garden socket if it is not to be used for a
while.
• If the garden socket is installed using the ground spike and operated with a flexible
connection cable with mains plug, it must be disconnected from the power supply
before you position it in a different location.
• Protect the product from exposure to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations and
solvents. Never expose the product to mechanical stress.
• If safe operation is no longer possible, take the device out of service and secure
it against unintended use. Safe operation is no longer possible, if the product:
- shows visible signs of damage,
- has tipped over and water got into it,
- no longer functions properly,
- has been stored under adverse ambient conditions for an extended period of
time or
- has been exposed to considerable strain during transport.
• Do not use the product when it is damaged (e.g. housing or power cable). There
is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
In this case, dispose of the product in an environmentally correct manner.
• The product is only suitable for use in temperate, not tropical, climates.
• Never overload the product. The max. permissible connection power can be found
in the chapter „Technical Data“.
• Do not connect in series! This can lead to an overloading of the garden socket!
There is a risk of fire!
• Do not operate while covered! At higher connected loads, the garden socket and
the connecting cable may become warm, which can lead to overheating and po-
tentially a fire if covered!
• Only de-energised when the plug is pulled out (if the garden socket is operated
using a flexible connection cable with mains plug) or when all poles of the mains
power are disconnected (fixed installation; switch off RDC).
Connection and installation
• Pull out the terminal box from the underside of the garden socket. The terminal box is at-
tached to a plastic strip.
• Open the terminal box by unscrewing the four screws of the cover.
• Remove the brackets of the strain relief, which are on the plastic strip.
• Strip the insulation off the connection cable for a length of approx. 25 mm.
In every case, use only a connection cable that is suitable for use in outdoor areas.
Depending on the installation type (with ground spike or fixed installation), an appro-
priate connection cable must be used.
• Cut off 10 mm of the the brown (phase/L) and blue (neutral/N) wire. In this way, the earth
conductor (yellow-green wire) is 10 mm longer than the brown and blue wire). This ensures
that the earth conductor is the last wire remaining in the screw terminal if the strain relief fails.
• Strip the ends of the three wires for a length of approx. 5 - 6 mm.
• Put the connection cable through the base plate (pay attention to the correct orientation).
For fixed installation (without ground spike), e.g. on a concrete base, the garden
socket can also be used and screwed on without the base plate.
However, due to the thin metal sheet of the garden socket base, the base will deform
when screwing it tight. Therefore, insert suitable washers between the ground and
the base when screwing tight.
• Secure the connection cable in the three screw terminals. Use end splices, if necessary, for
multi-strand conductors.
Brown wire = phase/L
Blue wire = neutral conductor/N
Yellow-green wire = protective earth/PE
• Attach the bracket of the strain relief on the connection cable so that the cable is fixed se-
curely.
• Close the lid of the terminal box.
• Push the terminal box completely and as far as possible into the lower opening of the garden
socket. The terminal box can be pushed far into the garden socket due to the plastic strip.
The plastic strip must point down towards the ground; the terminal box must point
upwards.
• When using the ground spike, first attach the base plate to the underside of the garden socket
with screws. Then, screw the ground spike into the thread in the underside of the base plate.
Push the garden socket into soft ground using the ground spike.
Never use force when pushing the ground spike into the ground. Do not use tools
(e.g. never hit the garden socket into the ground with a hammer). Make sure that the
garden socket is set up safely on the ground spike and cannot tip over. Operation
of the garden socket is permissible only in a vertical position (ground spike points
vertically downwards).
For fixed installation, suitable screws and plugs must be used depending on the ground.
Again, only installation in a vertical position is permissible (base of the garden socket is at
the bottom).
Make certain when drilling and tightening the screws that no cables or wires are
damaged.
Start-up
Directly after connecting the garden socket to the mains voltage (if a flexible connection cable
with mains plug was installed at the garden socket) or after switching the mains voltage on (with
the fuse or an automatic circuit breaker and RCD), the garden socket is ready for operation.
Connect the load to one of the sockets at the garden socket. To do this, first slowly fold up the
cover of the socket (do not use force).
Never connect wet or damp mains plugs to the garden socket. There is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
If a device is to be disconnected, fold up the cover of the socket a little and pull out the mains
plug from the socket of the garden socket. Then close the cover of the socket.
Do not let the cover slap down due to the integrated spring but close it by hand.
Care and Cleaning
• Disconnect the product from the mains supply before each cleaning procedure.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these
could damage the housing or even impair operation.
• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.
• Never direct a stream of water from a garden hose or a high-pressure cleaner onto the
garden socket.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable material and do not belong in the household was-
te. Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory
regulations.
