BIOS setting Meaning Setting options Effect
Enabled The processor speed is regulated by
the operating system.
P-States(IST) Option for controlling the Intel(R)
SpeedStep(TM) technology. The proces-
sor clock speed is increased or de-
creased according to the amount of cal-
culations that must be made. As a result,
the power consumption depends largely
on the processor load.
Disabled Disables SpeedStep technology.
Enabled Enables this function. CMP Support This option supports the use of multiple
CPUs (CMP=core multi-processing).

In order to use ARwin, CMP sup-
port must be turned off. Otherwise,
runtime violations may occur.
Disabled Disables this function.
Disabled Temperature monitoring disabled.
TM1 Intel Thermal Mode 1 enabled.
If the CPU reaches excessive temper-
atures, the processor speed will be re-
duced by 50%.
