Wand Emulation Interface

Ignore Unknown Characters

Unknown characters are characters the host does not recognize. When

Send Bar Codes

With Unknown Characters

is selected, all bar code data is sent except for unknown

characters, and no error beeps sound on the scanner. When

is selected, bar codes containing at least one unknown character

are not sent to the host, and an error beep will sound on the scanner.

Convert All Bar Codes to Code 39

By default, the Wand Emulation Interface sends data to the attached host in the same
symbology that was decoded. This may present a problem for customers with older
systems that do not recognize some newer symbologies (for example, RSS).

Enabling this parameter ignores the original symbology that was decoded, and outputs the
data as if it were a Code 39 barcode. Any lowercase characters that were in the original
data stream are transmitted as uppercase characters. This also allows ADF Formatting to
occur.

If

Ignore Unknown Characters

is enabled, any characters that do not have a

corresponding character in the Code 39 symbology set are replaced by a space.

If

Ignore Unknown Characters

is disabled, if any characters that do not have a

corresponding character are encountered, the scanner emits an error beep and no data is
transmitted.
