Safety Advisory
This inductive sensor is not permitted for use
in applications where personal safety
depends on proper function of the device
(not a safety component according to the EC
Machine Directive). Read this manual
carefully before using the sensor.
The sensor must never be disconnected
while under power.
Non-allowed electrostatic discharges on
housing parts can be prevented by
grounding the metal parts.
Guide for use in explosion hazard areas
This sensor
meets the requirements for electrical
devices used in hazardous locations
of group II
category 2
and is marked with according to RL 94/9/EG and
amendments followed by:

Installation and assembly
The special requirements of EN 600079-14 must be
observed for this product.
The prevailing standards and regulations for the
installation of devices in the named zones must be
adhered to. No changes or modifications may be made to
devices which are intended for explosion hazard areas.
Connection is accomplished using an installation- and
maintenance-friendly M12 connector.
When selecting, installing and operating these devices,
observe the prevailing safety regulations and standards
requirements.
Furthermore, we expressly point out that any liability
resulting from putting the unit into operation without the
corresponding User’s Manual in the language of the EU
user country is excluded.
Appropriate usage
The use of the device out of the specification is not
allowed.
The device has to be protected from strong
electromagnetic fields and mechanical damage.
Notes
If safe operation can no longer be ensured, the device
must be disconnected from its power source and secured
against further use.
Maintenance and Service
There are no serviceable parts on the device itself; in
case of damage no repair is possible, and the device must
be replaced.
Cleaning and inspection work on the device and on the
plug connection must be performed at regular intervals
depending on how frequently it is used. Such work must
be carried out only by trained specialists.
