Notes to the user
Validity
This guide describes the construction and function of the
following installation fixtures:
– BAM TO-MD-017-060
(for cylinder inside diameter 60...150 mm)
– BAM TO-MD-017-155
(for cylinder inside diameter 155...250 mm)
The guide is intended for qualified technical personnel.
Read this guide before using the installation tool.

Individual actions are indicated by a preceding triangle.

Scope of delivery
– Installation fixture for assembly (front and rear section,
each pre-assembled)
– Installation fixture for removal (2 × 2 threaded rods,
removal plate, 2 brass knurled nuts, 2 washers, 6 nuts)
– 2 cable pulls
– User’s Guide
The installation fixture must be adapted to
the diameter of the respective hydraulic
cylinder using a support. This support is
not included in the scope of delivery and
must be made separately for each cylinder
diameter or procured from a 3-D
manufacturer. Construction data (example:
Stuetze_D_80.STL) can be found at
www.balluff.com.

Intended use
The installation fixture is intended for use as a tool for
installing Balluff BMD microwave positioning sensors into
hydraulic cylinders and for their removal.
General safety notes
The operator is responsible for ensuring that local safety
regulations are observed.

Always observe the warnings in these instructions and the
measures described to avoid hazards.
The warnings used here contain various signal words and
are structured as follows:

Measures to avoid hazards
The individual signal words mean:
NOTICE
Identifies a danger that could damage or destroy the
product.
CAUTION
The general warning symbol together with the signal
word CAUTION indicates a danger which can lead to
slight or moderate injury .
General safety notes
Locate the installation fixture so that it does not represent
a trip hazard or obstacle.
When using the installation fixture wear safety gloves and
hearing protection.
The installation fixture is to be operated by two persons.
