USED TERMS:
Blackout
: A state where the overall DMX output is set to 0, commonly extinguishes any activity from any
connected DMX-controlled lighting fixture
DMX-512
: A term which states the name of the used protocol to control intelligent stage lighting
Fixture:
Refers to the device that projects light (such as a DMX LED Parcan, DMX dimmer, movinghead,
scanner or lighting effect)
Programs:
Also named Chase. A chase consists of a set of scenes, arranged in a specific order,
continuously looping with a variable speed.
Scene:
Static lighting situations with certain values/positions
Sliders:
Also called Faders. A knob that can slide from one position to another, variable

Scanner:
Refers to a lighting fixture, equipped with a mirror, capable of moving up and down by using
stepping motors. Most DMX-controllers use this term to describe an intelligent DMX-controlled lighting fixture
(such as movingheads, lighting effects or LED Parcans)
MIDI:
A standard of presenting musical information in digital format. Also capable of sending certain control
signals from one device to another and vice versa.
Stand Alone:
The function of a fixture/lighting device to run one or several internal programs without using a
DMX lighting controller
Fade slider:
Determines the amount of time it takes to change the values between the switch from one
scene to another (functional with movement and RGB color mixing) in a chase
Speed slider:
Determines the time between one scene and another in a chase
Shutter:
A mechanical device inside a lighting fixture, used to temporarily block any output from the device
Patching:
The process of re-assigning certain DMX-channels to certain channels on your DMX console for
your convenience. (E.g. when you have different fixtures with the same options on different channels)
Playback:
Scenes or chases, activated by the user in live mode.
