TROUBLESHOOTING
DIFFICULTIES IN STARTING COLD ENGINE
Make sure that the fuel tank is filled with
petrol-oil mixture and/or ignition switch was
switched to ON position “ | “ Fill/Refill fuel tank with petrol-oil mixture
and/or turn the ignition switch to ON
position “ | “
Check if spark plug is not flooded
Remove air cleaner cover and remove spark
plug. Clean the spark plug with a wire brush
or change it for new one
Make sure that choke lever is pulled
backwards Refer to – Starting the engine section on
page 22
ENGINE WILL NOT START OR WILL RUN ONLY A FEW SECONDS AFTER
STARTING
Make sure that the fuel tank is filled with
correct petrol-oil mixture and/or carburetor is
not clogged
If necessary refill the fuel tank with petrol-
oil mixture and clean carburetor
Check if ignition switch is in start position Turn the ignition switch to ON position “ | “
Make sure choke lever is in close position Pull choke lever backwards to close it
Check if air filter is not dirty or blocked
Clean or replace air filter. Refer to – Air
filter section on page 23
LACK OF POWER
Make sure that exhaust is clean and/or
muffler is not clogged
Clean
Carburetor requires adjustment
Contact a Servicing Dealer for carburetor
adjustment
Check whether air filter is dirty
Clean or replace air filter. Refer to – Air
filter section on page 23
Check tension and sharpness of saw chain
Refer to – Setting the saw chain section on
page 24
CHAIN IS NOT ROTATING AND/OR THERE IS NO CHAIN LUBRICATION
Check engagement of chain brake
Release chain brake by pulling protection
backwards. Refer to – Chain brake section
on page 23
Make sure that chain oil tank is full If necessary refill chain oil tank
Check the bar groove and oiling port on guide
bar, to be sure it is not clogged Clean, refer to – Guide bar maintenance
section on page 25
Check adjustment of oil pump
Refer to – Chain lubricant section on page
22
