er allows programs with a suitable
interface (VCOM ”Modem”) to also use the communications in-
terfaces of Windows 95 for ISDN.
When the ISDN CAPI Port Driver is installed, a number of “virtual
modems” which can be accessed by suitable programs are set
up in the operating system. These “modems” differ only by virtue
of their preconfigured register settings. This means that in addi-
tion to Internet connections (modem: AVM ISDN Internet (PPP)),
you can also establish connections with BBS systems (hyper-
terminal and modem AVM ISDN X.75) or fax machines (MS Ex-
change and modem AVM ISDN Fax G3). The special advantage of
this idea is that the full functional diversity of CAPI continues to
be supported. Thus, both special ISDN applications and also CAPI
modems can work simultaneously in the send and receive direc-
tions on both B channels.
A full description of the functions of the AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver
along with detailed installation instructions may be found in the file
CAPIPORT.HLP in the folder WINPORT\CAPIPORT.W95 on the FRITZ!Card
CD.
You can define particular subscriber numbers for incoming and outgo-
ing calls. In the case of the CAPI Port Drivers, you set these multiple
subscriber numbers by means of AT commands. This setting is per-
formed under Start > Settings > Control Panel > Modems > Connec-
tions > Settings
> Advanced.
Set the subscriber number for outgoing calls by means of ATS49 =
<subscriber number> and the subscriber number for incoming calls by
means of ATS50 = <subscriber number>. Separate multiple entries by
means of semicolons.
