8 Troubleshooting
Please make sure you keep all SMC components and Avira products up to date, in order
to ensure effective communication between them over the Security Environment.
8.1 Prerequisites for communication between
SMC Agents and SMC Server

If there is a firewall installed on a client computer, the following ports (TCP)
have to be open: 7000, 7001, 7010, 7020, 7021, 7030, 7100. Furthermore,
ICMP requests and ping must be allowed.

The Guest account must be deactivated.

The Simple file sharing should be deactivated: in Windows Explorer, Tools/
Folder Options/ View/ Use simple file sharing (recommended).

The SMC Server must have access to the client’s hidden drive C$ (\\<client’s IP
address>\c$\).

To ease the installation of SMC Agents over the network, you should use an
administrative user account, common to all computers.
8.2 Prerequisites for ADS import

Domain names must be solved by DNS.

In case you use a firewall, you must open all Active Directory ports, such as:
- 389 (LDAP)
- 88 (Kerberos)
- 636 (LDAP over SSL)
- 3268 (Global Catalog LDAP)
- 3269 (Global Catalog LDAP over SSL)

The user account for SMC Server must have access rights to the Active
Directory.

There must not exist group rules, which would deny access to the Active
Directory.
