Connecting the ConnectPlus 1000 Gateway

Each gateway must be connected to its associated VLAN port. Use the Ethernet topology
diagram in

“Ethernet Topology of a Single MSS Network Storage Cluster (24-Port Cluster)”

to identify the port to connect each of your system gateways.

VLAN Topology

The VLAN topology provides interconnection and communication between components
within the MediaStream NSS. The system topology design provides maximum data
protection and minimum user configuration. Network configuration for the gateways is
automatically set by running the Configure utility. This utility should be run after any
software upgrade or system configuration. Software configuration is covered in

and Software Installation” on page 25

. The Configuration utility automatically sets all

Network Interface card parameters, registry settings, and Hosts tables for the gateway.

The Ethernet topology diagram shows the system connections to the VLAN switch. Your
installed system has color-coded labels and cables to facilitate wiring and tracing
connections. The diagram can help you to isolate network paths when servicing or
troubleshooting the system.

. For VLAN connections, the sequence of

addresses has been abbreviated to simplify the diagram. In addition, only the last two-byte
groups of the address are provided. The complete address also includes the 10.xx prefix that
