Recording a Telephone Conversation
NOTE: This unit does not sound warning beeps to let the other party know that the call is being
recorded. To ensure that you are in compliance with any federal or state regulations, regarding
recording a telephone call, you should start the recording process and then inform your caller that
you are recording the call.

The Access Code
The preset security code is

This code gives you access to your messages, memos, and announcements
when you call in from another location. You can use the preset code, or choose your own. If you change
the code, be sure to write it down so you’ll be able to access your system when you are away from your
home or office.
Displaying the Access Code at the Base

Set the message VOLUME control to the middle.
2.
Press CODE. You will see the access code displayed in the Message Window and hear it announced.
The access code can be changed from the preset number (10) to any 2-digit number from 10-59.

Press SKIP/FAST FWD to increase or REPEAT/REWIND to decrease the number displayed.

To see and hear the selected number, press CODE. The system will announce the new code and
display it in the Message Window.

Like many other answering systems available, the Cordless Answering System 5600 allows you to retrieve
messages and operate other functions even when you are away from your home or office. Unlike most other
answering systems, however, the 5600 has the advantage of cordless phone technology. This means that
you can access your answering machine not only when you are away from your home or office, but also
when you are using the cordless handset anywhere in or around your home or office (as long as you are
within range of the base).
In addition, the 5600 has been designed to make access to the answering system’s features as easy as
possible. Whether you are using the cordless handset or calling from a touch-tone phone outside your
