Software-only DVD
8. ASUS SoftDVD (optional)
ASUS SoftDVD is a software-only DVD player that enables you, through the DVD/
MPEG-II hardware acceleration of the ASUS AGP-V1326 plus the appropriate sys-
tem, to take advantage of the much-talked about DVD technology.
DVD, short for digital versatile disc or digital video disc, is a new type of CD-ROM
that holds a minimum of 4.7GB, enough for a full-length movie or hours of music.
The DVD specification supports discs with capacities of from 4.7GB to 17GB and
access rates of 600KBps to 1.3 MBps. With these capacities and access rates, DVD
discs or DVD-ROMs can provide you with a dramatically-enhanced high-color, full-
motion video, better graphics, sharper pictures, and 5.1 channels of Dolby® Digital
Surround AC-3 audio for a theater-like experience.
The minimum system requirements for the ASUS Software-only DVD, aside from
your ASUS AGP-V1326 2D/3D DVD Accelerator, are:

DVD-ROM drive that supports the DVD-ROM and/or DVD-Video disc formats

Sound Blaster® 16 or above, or compatible sound boards (preferably PCI
