Physical bus topology
Hi-O Technology
™ can be implemented in a star or linear topology. A ring
topology is not permitted.
Terminating resistor
The
Hi-O Technology
™ bus must be terminated with a terminating resistor. For this
purpose, many
Hi-O Technology
™ compatible devices can be factory-equipped
with a switchable terminating resistor (see instruction guide for the device to be
connected).
In normal door wiring, exactly one terminating resistor must be activated.
In a topology with
remote interface
, a terminating resistor must be activated at
each line end of the longer connection lead.
Running the lines together at a central distribution point, such as a distributor or
gateway, where the terminating resistor is activated, is a practical approach.
Cable lengths for Hi-O door wiring
The lengths of all lines within a
Hi-O Technology™
system may not exceed 50 m.
The length of a branch connection line may not exceed 10 m.

„Wiring examples“, page 27)
Cable quality
In principle, any cable type can be used, having regard to local circumstances and
regulations. Special requirements apply for a
remote interface (
„Bus addresses/
devices“, page 26). The appropriate cable cross-section must be selected
depending on the cable length.
