7. Install Reader Backplate and (Optional*) Fire Shield or Gasket
7) Installation Instructions (Continued)
a. For fire-rated doors only, install reader backplate and fire shield to door using
two (2) #8-18 x 5/8” Phillips flat head self-drilling screws (Fig. 7a).
b. For exterior doors, install reader backplate and gasket (Fig. 7b using two (2)
#8-18 x 5/8” Phillips flat head self-drilling screws.
c. For non-fire rated interior doors, no fire shield or gasket is required; simply install
backplate using two (2) #8-18 x 5/8” Phillips flat head self-drilling screws.
