DAX and DAU Positioning
In Voice Alarm and any safety application, the cabling should not leave the confines of the unit’s enclosure.
Therefore if fireproof interlinking cables are not used, then DAU and DAX units must be located immediately
adjacent to each other and interconnected by a bushed link.
By mounting the two enclosures side by side (
Figure 21
) or one above the other (
Figure 22
), the cabling can
be directly passed between the two enclosures without compromising the integrity of the interlinking cables.

A 25 mm bushed link between the two enclosures is advisable, as a 20 mm link will not
allow easy passage of the RJ45 connector.

Due to the door hinge requirements in the side-by-side mounting the enclosures must be
spaced by more than 15 mm to allow the door to open fully on the right-hand unit, see
Figure 21
.
