4.2.5.3. Attack switch
This switch has two positions: Fast and Slow. Fast here should be construed as "faster", but
not "very" fast. Fast will be around 2 ms, while Slow is around 4 ms. Anyway, a very fast
attack is ill-advised with a Limiter because it messes with the attack transients of the music.
That's why the default position for this switch is Slow.
4.2.5.4. In switch
As with the Compressor section, this switch allows to bypass the Limiter section. By default,
the switch is On, which means the audio will pass through the limiting circuit, and will be
processed by it (which still may not have any influence, since when the controls are in their
default positions, the audio will not be processed anyway). When the switch is in the Off
position, the audio will bypass the Limiter circuit.
4.2.5.5. Makeup Gain
Make-Up gain controls for the Limiter appear in the Lower Toolbar, as two boxes displaying
values in dB. You have one control for each channel. Because, by nature, the Limiter will
reduce (limit) the overall volume level, you may want to raise the final output level in order
to compensate for that reduction. That's what these controls are there for.
Range goes from 0 dB to +20 dB. The default value for each box is 0 dB (no gain).
