Hex ID Code
1)
Each 406 MHz ELT is programmed with a unique hex ID code (i.e., registration code) that is transmitted to
the SAR satellite system. At a minimum, this code provides information regarding:
a)
Unique aircraft or ELT identification,
b)
Country of origin, and
c)
Latitude and longitude position data, if equipped with a navigation interface device.

Reason for Registration
1)
ELT registration aids the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) in determining if an actual emergency exists by
accessing a database containing the registration information, which facilitates inquiries as to the
whereabouts of the aircraft, existence of a flight plan, etc.
