6.5 Building External Modules
You can use the Kernel-devel TAR file in the devel directory in the release ISO to build external
kernel modules by using this directory as kernel build directory.
6.6 Modifying ramfs
Prerequisites

Scripts : mkinitramfs, unpackinitramfs available in /utils directory of
MC3K_7210_OS_CENTOS72_DIST_<VERSION>.iso

Files : ramfs.xz available in / images directory of
MC3K_7210_OS_CENTOS72_DIST_<VERSION>.iso

Host machine OS : Same distribution as Base OS ISO.
For example, if Base OS is based on CentOS7.2, then use a host machine installed with
CentOS7.2.
Procedure
To modify ramfs, perform the following steps:
1. Mount the Base OS ISO to a directory.
For example, /mnt directory.
mount –t MC3K_7210_OS_CENTOS72_DIST_<VERSION>.iso /mnt
2. Unpack
ramfs.xz
to a location.
For example, to uncompress ramfs.gz to /tmp/rootfs directory.
sh /mnt/utils/unpackinitramfs /mnt/images/ramfs.xz /tmp/rootfs
3. Modify the /tmp/rootfs according to your requirements.
4. Repackage
ramfs.xz
from /tmp/rootfs , using any of the below commands.
sh /mnt/utils/mkinitramfs /tmp/rootfs /tmp/ramfs.xz
(xz compression: less space, slower compression, slower booting).
or
sh /mnt/utils/mkinitramfs /tmp/rootfs /tmp/ramfs.gz
(gz compression: more space, faster compression, faster booting)
