4.7 Nebulised drug delivery 

When the jet nebuliser function is used, the patient receives medical aerosol 
via the CPAP breathing circuit during the therapy.  

The approved nebulisers are specified in  chapter 10.2 Accessories. Please 
refer to chapter 1.1 About this manual for details. 
 
For  test  purposes,  the  nebuliser  can  also  be  switched  on  in  the  standby 
mode.  For  detailed  information  about  activation/deactivation  of  the 
nebuliser, please refer to chapter 5.8 Activating/deactivating the nebuliser. 

 

Note 

The  nebuliser  is  completely  deactivated  in  the  helmet  CPAP 
mode and cannot be used. 

 
 

Note 

The  active  nebuliser  adds  AIR  flow  to  the  breathing 
circuit. 
To  provide  the  patient  with  the  selected  oxygen 
concentration, the gas mixer settings adjust accordingly. 
By  default,  an  AIR  flow  of  6.0  L/min  is  set  for  the 
nebuliser.  If  the  application  of  the  correct  oxygen 
concentration  is required during  nebuliser operation,  the 
exact  flow  value  of  the  nebuliser  has  to  be  determined 
and  needs  to  be  set  in  the  configuration  menu  by  an 
authorised service technician. 
 

Note 

The  nebuliser  is  exclusively  operated  with  AIR  flow. 
Therefore,  it  is  of  restricted  use  at  high  O

2

 

concentrations. 

Selecting 

certain 

settings 

will 

automatically clear the nebuliser icon, which means that 
the nebuliser cannot be activated. For more information, 
please  refer  to  chapter  5.8  Activating/deactivating  the 
nebuliser. 
 

4.8 High Flow Oxygen Therapy (HFOT) mode 

The  AquaVENT

®

  FD140  can  be  used  as  a  flow  generator  for  High  Flow 

Oxygen Therapy in the HFOT mode.
