URINAL PLUMBING ARRANGEMENTS
There are 3 common methods for plumbing a urinal flushing
systems, these are detailed here.
1.
Direct mains water supply
using an
approved
box rim
type urinal. Water is delivered to the
solenoid valve which opens for a few seconds
when triggered by the sensor.
E621501 Jasper Morrison box rim urinal is
approved for use in UK. If in doubt, check with local water regulations.
2.
A standard urinal can be flushed by an auto cistern which is topped-up by mains water supply as
shown.
When triggered, the solenoid valve releases mains water into the auto cistern. On filling to its flush level,
the water will automatically siphon & flush the urinal.
Normally the cistern fill rate is restricted with either a pet cock or the flow regulator provided (6L/min).
For example this system can be set up such that a flush occurs after 7 uses of the urinal (flow rate & run
time dependent, see section 7).
High velocity fill must be avoided, never exceed rate of 6L/min.
Turbulent & aerated water prevents the correct operation of the
auto siphons & may lead to cisterns overflowing.
Use one dedicated auto cistern for each urinal.
