The electrocardiogram (ECG) is the recording of the heart’s electrical activity 
through electrodes placed on the body surface. It represents the sum of all 
electrical activities that occur at each instant of the cardiac cycle.

The sequence of electrical events that result in the systole/diastole cycle 
propagates through the conductive volume of the thorax. It can be measured 
at the surface of the body using electrodes.
