Trailering and Towing
The TRV is equipped with a frame-
mounted receiver for a standard 2 in.
receiver hitch. The standard receiver
hitch must be purchased separately.
738-424A
When loading a trailer properly, two
items are critical: Gross Trailer Weight
(the weight of the trailer plus cargo) and
Trailer Tongue Weight.
Trailer Tongue Weight is the downward
force exerted on the hitch by the trailer
coupler when the trailer is fully loaded
and the coupler is at its normal towing
height.
Always maintain a slow speed when
trailering and towing and avoid sudden
accelerations, quick maneuvers, and sud-
den stops. Braking distance will be
affected when towing a trailer. When
towing a trailer, always maintain slow
speed and allow more stopping distance
than when not towing a trailer.
Transporting TRV
When transporting the TRV, Arctic Cat
recommends that the ATV be in its nor-
mal operating position (on all four
wheels) and the following procedure be
used.
1. Engage the brake lever lock.
2. Secure the ATV with load rated hold-
down straps.
NOTE: Suitable hold-down straps
are available from your Arctic Cat
ATV dealer. Ordinary rope is not
recommended because it can
stretch under load.
! WARNING
Make sure the seat is secure before
mounting the ATV. Severe personal
injury may result if the seat is not
properly secured.
! WARNING
Never use the front rack or rear back-
rest support as towing or trailering
points.
! WARNING
Make sure that the load in the trailer
is properly secured and will not shift
while moving. Also, do not overload
the trailer.
! WARNING
Never exceed any of the recom-
mended weight restrictions.
! WARNING
Riding this ATV without extra caution
when towing a trailer will be hazard-
ous. Trailer towing can affect the han-
dling and braking of the ATV. Tow
only at a low speed never exceeding
10 mph. Avoid sudden accelerations
and stopping of the ATV. Do not make
quick maneuvers. Avoid uneven sur-
faces and do not tow on hills. Never
carry passengers in a trailer unless
the trailer is designed for such use
and has a rigid tow bar. Allow more
stopping distance than when not tow-
ing a trailer.
CAUTION
When using hold-down straps, care
must be taken not to damage the ATV.
CAUTION
When transporting the ATV, make
sure the brake lever lock is engaged
and the ATV is properly secured.
