OPERATING PROCEDURE
NOTE: When handling wire rope always use approved leather gloves.
1.
Uncoil the wire rope from the reeler in a straight line to prevent kinks.(Fig.6)
2.
Push the rope release lever forward into the locked position. (this may require a little
force when the unit is new)(Fig.7)
3.
Insert the tapered end of the wire rope into the rope guide.(Fig.8)
4.
Push the rope through the winch. You may use the forward lever to help if necessary.
5.
Once the rope emerges through the anchor point, pull the slack wire through to the
correct length.(Fig.9)
6.
Engage the jaws by unlocking the release lever.(Fig.10)
7.
Connect the Magnum Winch to the selected anchor point using the anchor pin on the
rear of the winch. This is performed by rotating and removing the anchor pin, then
inserting either a bow shackle or chain/strap into the slot. To lock the anchoring pin,
push the pin into position then rotate.(Fig.11)
8.
Connect the wire rope hook to a suitable recovery point on the vehicle.(Note: Be sure
the point on the vehicle is a rated recovery point, not a tie down eye)(Fig.12)
9.
Extend the telescopic handle until it locks into position. This may require twisting the
two sections to align the spring.
10.
Place the handle onto the desired lever (forward or reverse) and crank in a forward
and backward motion to begin winching.(Fig.13)
11.
To release the load, follow the above instructions in reverse order.
NOTE:
The releasing lever should only be operated when there is no load on the winch.
When not in operation (ie. in storage), the release lever should be left in the engaged
position. Therefore the lever must be released before attempting to feed the wire rope.
