Replace the pin locking ring.

•

Fit a new cylinder gasket.

•

Fit the centring dowels.

•

Lubricate the piston, the piston rings and the cylinder with engine oil.

•

Check the piston ring misalignment by

measuring the angles among the ring

ports, according to the diagram below:

•

a - top ring.

•

b - upper oil scraper ring element.

•

c - oil scraper ring expander.

•

d - lower oil scraper ring element.

•

e - intermediate ring.

•

f - 20 mm (0.79 in).

•

A - exhaust side.

Installing the cylinder

•

Using the special tool, compress the piston rings and fit the cylinder.

Specific tooling

Piston ring clamp

•

Fit the timing chain guide (exhaust side).

CAUTION

LEAD THE TIMING CHAIN AND THE RELEVANT GUIDE (EXHAUST SIDE) THROUGH THE TIMING
CHAIN NOTCH

•

Fit four new washers with their rounded surface facing upwards.

THE CYLINDER STUD BOLTS ARE DIFFERENT IN PAIRS. THOSE ON THE TIMING SYSTEM SIDE
ARE LONGER.

•

Position the four cylinder stud bolts, fitting the two punched stud bolts on the timing system

side.

CAUTION

LUBRICATE THE CYLINDER STUD BOLTS AND THE SEAL SURFACES WITH ENGINE OIL.
