Chapter 1 Getting Started
System Overview
Thank you for purchasing XC REC 8, an entertainment PC (ePC). The system unit is
designed to integrate the functions of the following appliances:
1. DVD player
2. Personal video recorder
3. Audio CP player
4. Internet Set-top box
5. FM tuner
6. AC3 decoder
7. PC game console
To fully make use the functions mentioned above, the user needs to get the Media Center
Edition (MCE) software provided by Microsoft Corp. With the MCE, a user can turn the
system unit into a Media Center PC and his/her home into a digital entertainment center.

1. The product is the first smallest ViiV desktop ePC with a size of 430 x 89 x 300 mm.
2. The system is built with Intel 130W dual core CPU, 945G, ICH7DH chipset, and Intel LAN
technology.
3. It is designed to be the first smallest ViiV desktop ePC in compliance with VCR standard
size, and fit into any audio/video racks or cabinets.
4. The first smallest ViiV desktop ePC with a power supply of 375W.
5. The first smallest ViiV desktop ePC that supports two 3.5-in hard disc drives and one 5.25-in
optical disc drive.
