Insert  the  diskette  into  the  drive  and  enter  the  following 

command:

Start the installation by typing 

CUSTOM

. 

8. 

Follow the screen instructions to install the SiS IDE driver.  A new 

kernel  replaces  the  original  kernel  and  the  original  kernel  is 

renamed as UNIX.OLD. 

9. 

Reboot your  system  for  the  new  kernel  to take  effect.   The new 

kernel initializes the chip to the new timing setting.
