WinMAX MAX Server Control Software
Troubleshooting Ethernet Communications Problems
The Link (L) LED next to the Ethernet port should be on (FIG. 2). If not, check your
cables and connectors.
Verify that the IP address and Subnet Mask settings are appropriate for your network
configuration.
If you are connecting to the server via a direct connection with a PC (using a crossover
Ethernet cable), be sure that the IP Address of the Network card in your PC is in the same
range as the server, but not the same address as the server.
For example, a network card setting of
192.168.1.31
will work with the default server IP
address of
192.168.1.30
.
Changing the IP Address of Your PC
1.
Go to the Control Panel, Network Connections.
2.
Double-click the Network Connection that applies to the network card you are using to connect
to the server.
3.
Double-click on
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
.
4.
Select
Use the Following IP Address
and type in the IP Address of the MAX Server, plus one.
For example, if the server’s IP Address is XXX.XXX.1.
30
, then set the PCs IP Address to
XXX.XXX.1.
31
.
5.
Set the
Subnet Mask
to
255.255.255.0
.
6.
Click
OK
and try to establish communications with the server.
If you are connecting to the server via a PC network, be sure that the IP address and
Subnet Mask settings are appropriate for your network configuration. Consult your
network administrator for help with this.
