PMB-IRI

Mini IR Receiver

Overview

The PMB-IRI Mini IR Receiver (FIG. 1) provides a simple and cost-effective
way to add IR reception capabilities anywhere in a Landmark system.

Its small size allows mounting in discrete locations, and the PHASTLink
RJ-45 connectors on the back of the receiver allow it to be connected
directly to the PHASTLink data bus of a Landmark system without any other
intermediary devices.

An LED on the front of the Mini IR Receiver flashes when valid commands
are received.

An ID button on the front of the Mini IR Receiver provides device ID infor-
mation to the Landmark system to facilitate attaching a physical Mini IR
Receiver to the appropriate software receiver.

Safety Instructions

ATTENTION!

Read and follow all safety and operating instructions before installing or
operating this device. Adhere to all warnings listed on the device and in the
operating instructions.

Disconnect this device from the power source before cleaning. Do not

use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Use only a clean, soft, damp cloth for
cleaning.

Operating Instructions

Note:

There are no user-serviceable parts inside the Mini IR Receiver.

Opening the unit may void your warranty.

PHASTLink Ports:

There are two RJ-45 PHASTLink ports on the rear of the Mini IR Receiver.
Usually you will use only one, but the second port allows you to daisy chain
this device to other PHASTLink devices. Both PHASTLink ports are func-
tionally identical.

Number of IR Receivers:

You may install as many Mini IR Receivers as you like in a Landmark sys-
tem, but do not install more than one IR receiver in any given room. The IR
receiver may be a PMB-IRI, PLC-IRIN, or PLB-TCC.

Troubleshooting Tips

If you are having difficulty receiving commands, check the following:

Make sure there is only one IR receiver per room, and that the IR

receiver in each room is not positioned so that it can receive signals
from a nearby room. These include the PMB-IRI, PMB-TCC, or the
PLC-IRIN and any connected IR receivers.

Make sure none of the IR receivers are placed in locations that receive

direct or high levels of sunlight. Reposition if necessary.

Start Landmark Designer and monitor the PMB-IRI function in the Net-

work Log. Make a number of clean button-press commands. You
should see these come in on the correct port. Watch for any interfer-
ence from other ports.

Check the remote mode when comparing programming functions.

Make sure the mode matches the appropriate programming mode.
