Application and Use
Building a Function File
With the IRIS unit connected to your PC and ready to capture a function, and with
the IRLIBX program running, your first task is to build your library of Hand Control
functions. Make sure that your communications port is set to 9600 baud before start-
ing, otherwise the IRIS capture will not function.
The steps for building a function file are as follows:
1. Press F4 to select the IRIS options menu. Use the down arrow to highlight the
CAPTURE NEW option.
2. Press the ENTER or RETURN key to open begin opening the windows that ap-
pear in Figure 17.
3. The ENTER MANUFACTURER window appears (Figure 17). Enter up to 31
characters for the manufacturer's name then press RETURN.
4. Next, a window for the HAND CONTROL # is displayed (Figure 17). You can
use up to 21 characters for the controller model number and press RETURN.
5. The third window, CONTROLLED EQUIPMENT, provides up to 21 characters
for the type of equipment being controlled. Enter a type such as Monitor Model
X12 or Sony VCR Model R4321 and press RETURN.
