Step 2 Install SIMMs,

Continued

Installing SIMMs

SIMMs must be installed or removed with care to make
sure that the sockets are not damaged. The latching tabs on
the sockets must be handled carefully so as to not break
them off. Make sure the SIMMs are firmly in place for
reliable operation. Make sure that the modules do not
interfere with adjacent expansion slots. See the following
figure.

Gently slide the SIMMs into the socket. Tilt the SIMMs
away from the latching tangs. Once the SIMM is seated,
move it towards the tangs until it snaps in place, which
does not require much force. SIMMs are keyed to make
them difficult to install incorrectly.
