20.9 Replacing the Control Board
Before you begin:
•
Disconnect power supply (including battery backup) to the fireplace.
•
Ensure the fireplace is off and cool before servicing.
•
Remove the fireplace surround (see
Section 16
).
•
Slide the control board forward.
CAUTION:
Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous
operation. Verify proper operation after servicing. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded in accordance
with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or the Canadian
Electrical code, CSA C22.1

1.
Label the wires and then unplug from the control board.
2.
Remove the nuts securing the control board to the bracket. There is a nut on each end of the control board.
3.
Install the new control board using the nuts previously removed.
4.
Plug the wires in the appropriate ports on the new control board.
5.
Replace the batteries and secure the battery holder in the velcro strap on the control board.
6.
Slide the control board back in place ensuring the wires are not pinched. Wires should be neat and tidy.
7.
Replace the surround and resupply power.
8.
Light the fireplace to verify proper operation.
