4.2 Special advice for the application of slug pellets
The standard spreader

can also be used
for broadcasting slug pellets. Slug pellet material (e.g. Mesurol) is of
granular shape and is applied at very low spread rates (e.g. 3 kg/ha).
When filling the centrifugal broadcaster do not inhale the dust of the
spreading material and wear gloves to avoid skin contact. After
application thoroughly wash your hands and all relevant parts of the
skin.
When handling slug pellets implicitely observe the advice of the
manufacturer and carefully follow all precautionary measures
associated with handling plant protection agents.
When driving to the field and from the field ensure that both shutters are
closed. In case where spreading material has got out forming small piles
remove it immediately. When spreading slug pellets ensure that the shutter
slides are always covered with spreading material and that a constant PTO
shaft operating speed of 720 R.P.M. is maintained. A residual amount of
approx. 0.7 kg per hopper tip cannot be spread in the usual way and so
the spreader should be emptied by opening the shutters and collecting the
spreading material discharged (e. g. on a canvas sheet) and keep it in a
closed container in an inacessible place, away from children and
domestic animals/pets.

The data is only an average figures and so before starting the
spreading operation a spread rate check on both sides of the
speader must be carried out.
