7.5.2 Reassembling the pump section
7.5.2.1 Installing the mechanical seal
Observe the following points to ensure trouble-free operation of the mechanical
seal:
▪ Only remove the protective wrapping of the contact faces immediately before
assembly takes place.
▪ Make sure the surface of the shaft is absolutely clean and undamaged.
▪
Immediately before installing the mechanical seal, wet the contact faces with a
drop of oil.
▪ For easier installation of mechanical seals, wet the O-rings with soapy water (not
oil).
▪ Prevent the O-rings from sliding into any grooves in the shaft by lining the
relevant grooves with suitable means.
▪ To prevent any damage to the O-rings, cover the free shaft stub and any sharp
edges of the shaft in thin foil (of approximately 0.1 to 0.3 mm thickness).
Slip the rotating assembly over the foil into its installation position.
Then remove the foil.
ü The shaft and rolling element bearings have been properly installed in the
motor.
1. Screw the stationary assembly of mechanical seal 433.01 to bearing housing 350
with screw 914.54. Secure screw 914.54 with a thread-locking agent (Loctite,
type 243).
2. Slide the rotating assembly of mechanical seal 433.01 onto the shaft and fasten
it to the shaft with parallel pins. Secure the parallel pins with a thread-locking
agent (Loctite, type 243).
3. On pump sets with cooling system (installation types K and D): If applicable to
the motor version, fasten drive-end circlip 932.32 to the shaft. Insert key 940.02
into the shaft keyway, slide auxiliary impeller 23-2 onto the shaft and fasten the
auxiliary impeller with pump-end circlip 932.32.
4. Insert O-ring 412.04 and O-ring 412.24 (depending on the variant) into the
discharge cover. Fasten the discharge cover to the bearing housing with screwed
connection 902.27/920.27.
5. Screw the stationary assembly of mechanical seal 433.02 to discharge cover 163
with screw 914.55. Secure screw 914.55 with a thread-locking agent (Loctite,
type 243).
6. N110 / N110X: (see section 7.4.3.2) Slide the rotating assembly of mechanical
seal 433.02 onto the spacer sleeve and fasten it with parallel pins. Secure the
parallel pins with a thread-locking agent (Loctite, type 243). Slide the spacer
sleeve with the mechanical seal onto the shaft.
N140 / N160: (see section 7.4.3.2) Slide the rotating assembly of mechanical seal
433.02 onto the shaft. The rotating assembly of the mechanical seal is fastened
by fitting the impeller.
7.5.2.2 Fitting the impeller
The procedures for fitting the impeller differ depending on the hydraulic system and
motor.
