Port ID Numbering
Each CPU port on the KVM installation is assigned a unique Port ID. The Port
ID is made up of two parts: a Station Number, and a Port Number:
M
The Station Number is a two digit number that reflects the switch’s position
in the daisy chain sequence.
M
The Port Number - is a two digit number which reflects the port on the
Station that the computer is connected to.
M
The Station Number precedes the Port Number.
M
Station and Port numbers from 1 - 9 are padded with a preceding zero and
appear as 01 - 09.
For example, a computer attached to Port 6 of Station 12 would have a Port ID
of: 12-06.
Port Selection
There are three port selection methods: Manual; entering Hotkey combinations
from the keyboard; and with the menu-driven On Screen Display (OSD).
With manual port selection you simply press the appropriate Port Selection
Switch located above the keyboard (see p. 6 for details). Hotkey port selection
is discussed in the next chapter; OSD operation is described in Chapter 4.
