Maintenance
The batteries are to be
connected to the switch-off
charging set via the charging
plug. Then the charging set is
to be switched on.
At the beginning of charging
the temperature of the
batteries must be between 10
°C and 35 °C. Proper charging
cannot take place outside this
temperature range.
During charging the
temperature rises by about
10 °C.
Temperature
The nominal temperature of the
battery is 30 °C. Higher
temperatures shorten the
service life, lower temperatures
reduce the available capacity.
The temperature limit is 55 °C,
and it is not permitted as an
operating temperature.

Maintenance-free, sealed
batteries
• Charge battery after every discharge.
• Visual check for dirt and mechanical damage.
• Grease terminals with terminal grease (Vaseline) and check to
ensure firm fit.
In the case of maintenance-free
batteries, no topping-up with
water is required for the entire
service life.
Pressure-relief valves, which
cannot be opened without
destruction, are used as closure
plugs.
After full charging and service life of at least 5 hours, the total
voltage and the individual voltages of the blocks are to be
measured and recorded.
If major changes as compared with previous measurements or
differences between the individual blocks are found, the technical
service staff is to be informed for further examination and/or
repair.
Wet batteries
In the case of wet batteries,
the water consumption is
influenced by the operating
conditions and the charging set
used.
The water level should not fall
below the minimum mark (top
edge of separator). If
necessary, top-up with distilled
water again after charging.
