Remote Monitoring for PowerFlex 755 AC Drive
Remote Monitoring Kit
Included with your service contract is a hardware kit used to connect your PowerFlex™ 755 Drive to the Rockwell Automation™ remote monitoring
platform.
Gateway Device
The gateway device is the bridge between your PowerFlex 755 drive and the Rockwell Automation remote monitoring platform. The version
ordered determines the gateway device. Catalog number 9300-VSELV uses an Ethernet connection to access the Internet, for which the Netbiter
EC310 is provided. Catalog number 9300-VSELVCELL uses a cellular data connection to access the Internet, for which the Netbiter EC350 is
provided. The Netbiter EC350 is delivered preloaded with an AT&T SIM card.
DIN Rail Mounting Kit
The DIN rail mounting kit provided is compatible with both the Netbiter EC310 and Netbiter EC350.
1 and 3 meter Ethernet Cables
To assist with the network connections described in this manual, two Ethernet cables with RJ45 connectors are provided.
Antenna with 4 meter cable (Cat. No. 9300-VSELVCELL)
With the cellular version, a screw mount antenna with an extended 4 meter cable is provided to connect to the Netbiter EC350 as discussed in this
manual.
Field Mounting Instructions
Use the following information to install the included hardware to enable the Remote Monitoring service.
Gateway Mounting
The Netbiter gateway hardware is a DIN rail (Type EN50022) mounted device with dimensions (H x W x D) of 1.01 x 5.31 x 3.62 in.
(25.6 x 135 x 92 mm). The mounting space on the DIN rail must be large enough to accommodate the size of the gateway plus an additional 1 inch
(25.4 mm) clearance space from other components on the DIN rail.
Cellular Antenna Mounting
The Netbiter EC350, the cellular version of the gateway device, must use the provided antenna to establish a live connection to the Rockwell
Automation remote monitoring platform. Additional steps need to be taken to install the screw mount antenna that is included with the VSE kit.
The antenna itself must not be mounted within an enclosure to avoid inhibiting signal strength. The 13.1 ft. (4 m) antenna cable connects to the
Netbiter, using the screw connection as shown in the Network Connection Instructions section below.
If the Netbiter is mounted within an enclosure, a 0.63 in. (16 mm) hole must be drilled such that the antenna cord can be routed through the hole
and connected to the Netbiter without causing any obstruction.
IMPORTANT
Do not mount antenna inside a metal enclosure. An enclosure reduces the strength of cell signal. A 13.1 ft. (4 m) extension cable is included to help mount
the antenna outside the enclosure.
