GPS
Global Positioning System. A telecommunication system formed by an array of satellites
that transmit information to the earth's surface. Timing and position can be determined
by using GPS along with an appropriate receptor.
IP
Internet Protocol. A low-level communications protocol used by the internet.
PLL
Phase Locked Loop. A feedback loop that synchronizes the phase of two signals.
RTP
Real Time Protocol. An internet protocol for applications that transmit IP data packets in
real time as per IETF standard RFC3550. This includes numbering of the packets,
detection of duplicate packets and recovery of lost packets if FEC packets as per SMPTE
2022-1 are included on the transmitter side.
TS
Transport Stream. Data stream that includes one or more compressed audio and video
signals together with ancillary data. Typically used in television broadcasting.
UDP
User Datagram Protocol. Transport layer protocol for communications designed for data
packets used on the internet.
