Connecting to the Dry Contacts
The SPX+ units are shipped with the green “phoenix” type two pin + & - terminal blocks as shown in
the image below.
It is very important to take note and correctly connect the polarity of the connections as you can see
in the image above as the two rows have a different orientation.
The polarity and the number on the dry contacts are easy to miss when you need to unplug the
terminal blocks from the bottom row in order to attach the wires and tighten the two screws that hold
them in place. So, we are also adding individual numbers to the terminal blocks as well.
If you do have an older unit that still only has the + - phoenix terminal blocks, please contact us and
we can ship you the revised versions.
Configuring the Dry Contact Sensor
Since all of
AKCP’s intelligent sensors are configured similarly, not every field is described below.
The descriptions below describe the fields which are special to the Dry Contact sensor. The rest of
the configuration is similar to the Relay Sensor (see below in this manual).
Direction:
The Switch Direction can be either
Input
or
Output
. When set as an Input, the sensor will
report its status as either
Normal
or
Critical
. The status is Normal if the Normal State field matches
the current value applied to the sensor.
For example, if the Normal State field is High and the input to the sensor is high then the status is
Normal. The input voltage should be limited to 0 to 5 volts in order to protect the sensor.
If the Direction of the sensor is Output, the sensor can be used to drive external equipment.
