4. Commissioning and Operation
Starting the engine
Type 900-S (0900 141)
W
Do not start engine in closed rooms!
Exhaust fumes contain carbon mon-
oxide which acts toxic when inhaled.
Keep your feet off the hoeing tools.
Protective covers mounted?
Attachments attached correctly?
Check engine oil level
Mount spark plug connector
Air filter clean?
Fuel quantity in tank sufficient?
Open fuel tap (A/29)
Cold engine:
Set the speed control lever to ”START”
(”CHOKE”
) position
Warm engine:
Move the speed control lever to a position be-
tween “min.” (Neutral) and “half throttle”
Pull the clutch hand lever (A/24) and lock it
with pawl (A/25) (start position)
Start engine from a position outside the ha-
zardous area

Pull the starter rope on the handle (A/3) until
the starter clutch engages. Then pull hard and
fast to pull the rope all the way out. After the
start, let the rope glide back. Do not let it snap
back.

Attention: The hoeing tools are
rotating!
Once the engine has startet, slowly push
speed control lever to position “min.”

The hoeing tools are rotating until
the machine is in position “min.”
