5. Operation

Before continuing, ensure you have completely read and understood this manual’s
Safety section, in addition to the safety information in the section(s) below.

5.1. Operation Safety

• Ensure the heater is connected to the appropriate gas supply and the gas selector valve is

properly set.

• The area around the heater should be kept clear and free from combustible materials and

other flammable liquids.

• Ensure the fan inlet, outlet, bin floor ductwork and roof vents are not plugged with any

foreign material.

• Always operate with guards, covers, and shields in place.

• Ensure maintenance has been performed and is up to date.

• When heater is not in use, shut off gas valve on heater and at gas source.

• When warming the tank using an approved electric blanket, extreme care must be exercised

when doing this. Never use an open flame directly on the tank.

5.2. Pre-Start Check

Check the following before operating the heater each time:

1. Turn off all electrical and fuel supplies.

2. Check the fan.

•

Ensure that the fan blades turn freely. Remove any debris.

•

Verify that the fan guard is in place.

3. Check the heater.

•

Remove any debris.

•

Ensure that all covers are securely in place.

Important

Heater must be electrically interlocked with the fan.

4. Check the bin transition. Make certain the transition is free of debris and holes.

5. Ensure the thermostat (if equipped) and/or other controls are in place and in working order.

Important

If using for the first time, ensure the heater is installed properly. Refer to

Section 4.1 – Installation
