Switching the appliance on and off
Use the thermostat controller (7) to set the desired temperature. During the heating
phase the indicator light (8) lights up. When the set temperature has been reached,
the indicator light turns off (8). During use, the indicator light (8) repeatedly lights
up again when the temperature falls below the set value. To switch the appliance off,
turn the knob of the thermostat controller (7) to the OFF position.
PRESERVING
Preserving is a process by which food is conserved or made to last for a long time.
In food conservation, a distinction is made between sterilization (100°C) and
pasteurisation (80°C). Special preserving jars with rubber seals are required for this
process.
• Place the preserving grill (3) into the steam vessel (4).
• Fill the preserving jars and seal them well, so that no water can penetrate.
• Place the filled jars on the preserving grill (3), a maximum of two layers stacked.
• Fill the steam vessel (4) with water. The upper jars must be submerged at least
3/4 in water.
• Close the preserver with its lid (2).
• Use the thermostat controller (7) to set the desired temperature.
• The preheating phase now starts. When the appliance is full, this can be up to 90
minutes.
• The actual preserving phase begins when the indicator light (8) goes off.
• After the preserving phase has been completed, turn the knob of the thermostat
controller (7) to the OFF position.
• Place a sufficiently large and heat-resistant container beneath the drain tap (5),
and open the latter by pressing the lever to the rear. The hot water flows out.
• When the steam vessel (4) is completely empty, allow the preserving jars some
time to cool down. Risk of burns!
