The power controller is provided with an overvoltage and undervoltage monitor. If the lamp 
voltage falls below the adjustable value (factory setting 180V, see chapter 8.1.2 on page 33), 
it is immediately switched to the next higher stage. An extinguishing of the lamps is thereby 
prevented. 

If the lamp voltage exceeds an adjustable value (factory setting 250V, see chapter 8.1.2 on 
page 33), it is immediately switched to the next lower stage thereby counteracting a 
reduction of life. 

 

7.2 Functional 

Description 

The full supply voltage is switched through to the lamps for an adjustable time after 
connecting the system. 

This step is necessary to guarantee a normal warming-up of the lamps. After expiration of 
this time, it is automatically switched to the stage required by the user. In many cases, the 
starting current significantly exceeds the nominal current of the lighting system. This fact has 
to be taken into consideration during the design phase.
