2.4 Installing System Software
Recent releases of operating systems from major vendors include setup programs
that load automatically and guide users through hard disk preparation and operating
system installation. The guidelines presented below will assist you in determining the
necessary steps for installing the operating system on the panel PC hard drive.
If required, insert the operating system’s installation or setup disk into the external
disk drive.
The BIOS supports system boot-up directly from the CD-ROM drive. You may also
insert your system installation CD-ROM disk into your external CD-ROM drive.
Power on or reset the system by pressing “F2” or “Del” to access the BIOS menu and
adjust the boot device sequence.
Alternatively, press “F12” during the system bootup to access a bootable device
popup menu. Select the desired bootable device. The POC terminal will then auto-
matically load the operating system from the disk or CD-ROM.
If the terminal presents the opening screen of a setup or installation program, follow
the onscreen instructions. The setup program will guide users through the hard drive
preparation and OS installation processes.
2.5 Troubleshooting
If any of the following system function abnormalities occur, contact Advantech or your
local sales representative:
1. Failure to power on
2. Failure to power off
3. The power LED is on but the system shows no DC power output
4. The AC power supply is connected and the power switch is turned on but the
system does not power on
Should you require any additional assistance, contact your distributor or Advantech's
customer service center for technical support. Please have the following information
ready before calling:
 Product name and serial number
 Description of your peripheral attachments

Description of your software (operating system, version, application software,
etc.)
 Comprehensive description of the problem
 The exact wording of any error messages
 Symptom photo or video if available
Note! Some distributors and system integrators may have already pre-
installed system software prior to shipment of your panel PC.
