Plug and Play / PCI Configurations

This section describes how to configure the PCI bus system. PCI, or

P

ersonal

C

omputer

I

nterconnect, is a system which allows I/O devices to operate at

speeds close to the speed the CPU uses when communicating with its own
special components. This section covers some very technical items and it is
strongly recommended that only experienced users make any changes to the
default settings.

Select Yes if using a Plug and Play capable operating system.
Select No. if the user requires the BIOS to configure non. Boot devices.

Reset Configuration Data:

The common practice is to leave this field Disabled. Select “Enabled” to reset
Extended System Configuration Data (ESCD) when exiting from Setup if a new
add-on has been installed and the system reconfiguration has caused such a
serious conflict that the operating system cannot boot.

Options: Enabled, Disabled.

Resources Controlled By:

This allows the user to automatically configure all the boot and Plug and
Play-compatible devices. If Auto is selected, all the interrupt request (IRQ) and
DMA assignment fields disappear, as the BIOS automatically assigns them.

IRQ/DMA Resources:

When resources are controlled manually, assign each system interrupt a type,
depending on the type of device using the interrupt.
