6. Remove the four screws.
Install the replacement controller board
1. Fasten the new controller board to the sign.
2. Reconnect all the cables to the new controller board.
3. Close the sign.
4. Return power to the sign.
Set the IP Address for the new Controller
Set the IP Address for the new controller. Controllers ship from the factory with a default IP address. You must change the IP address
on the new controller so that the sign will be visible on your network.
1. Start the AX-DMS Diagnostic Tool.
2. Navigate to the Communications Tab.
3. Select the tab for the method you will use to connect to the sign, either serial or Ethernet connection.
4. Enter the appropriate information for the connection method.
Name Description
COMM PORT NUMBER
The number of the serial port that serial communications will be routed through.
SERIAL ADDRESS
The serial address of the sign being communicated with. AlphaXpress signs are
defaulted to address 1 unless otherwise specified.
TIMEOUT
The amount of time allowed to pass before communications are marked as timed out
and failed. Longer timeouts can be helpful on slower or congested networks.
USE BROADCAST?
This box should only be used when the serial address of a sign is unknown and the
sign is alone on the serial network being communicated on. This will allow
communications to be established. If this is used on a serial network with multiple
signs, multiple responses will be received, potentially resulting in incorrect information.
