3.1.5 Installing and Removing a VRM (Voltage
Regulator Module)
Each Pentium II Xeon processor requires two VRMs (Voltage Regulator Modules),
one for the processor and another one for the L2 cache. However, two L2 caches
share one VRM. If you are installing two Pentium II Xeon processors, you need
three VRMs: two VRMs for each processor and one VRM for both of the L2 cache
to share. Refer to section 3.1.1 for the location of the VRM sockets. The following
table shows the VRM socket allocation:

VRM LED
There is one LED indicator for each VRM module. Before system power-on, an
LED would light up (green) if a VRM is required for the processor or the L2
cache. If you see a red light, it means that the VRM is bad or is missing and
corrective action needs to be taken. Please see the following table for proper
VRM installation.
