(8) Stretch
a
string
from point
A
to the
center
of
the com
pass
(point
B).

Turn
the compass
until
the
string is directly
over
the
"0"
degree
mark
on the
protractor.
CAUTIpN
:
Be sure the
string
is tight and not
thrown
out
of line
by
any object.
(10)
Insert
the second
bolt and tighten
them
both securely.
Kecheck
the
alignment.

After
the
compass is completely aligned, mark
a
line
on the
mounting bracket, using
one edge
of
the
lower support
as
a
guide.
This
mark
will
be used
as
a
guide
to
realign
the
compass
in
reinstallation,
if
it
should
be
removed.
(12) When not in
use, the sun compass
is
stored in
a
carry
ing
case
provided. Only
the
gnomon and sighting rods
need be
disassembled
to
place
the
compass in
the case.
