Special conditions
• Before the final installation, the operator decides on the use
of the device, either
– as a device with the ‘Intrinsically safe Ex i’ type of
protection or
– as a device with ‘Flameproof enclosure Ex d’ type of
protection
The operator must permanently mark the selected type of
use on the name plate. Specific ambient conditions, such as
chemical corrosion, must be taken into account when
affixing the permanent mark.
Devices that also meet the requirements for the ‘Intrinsic
safety Ex i’ type of protection in accordance with a separate
declaration may no longer be operated as intrinsically safe if
they have been previously used in the ‘flameproof enclosure
Ex d’ type of protection.
• Permissible for the ‘Natural gas version’ only:
– The positioner TZIDC-220 may be operated as a power
supply only with gases of Group IIA and temperature class
T1 outdoors or inside of buildings with sufficient
ventilation.
– The supplied gas must be free of air and oxygen to
prevent the forming of a hazardous atmosphere.
– Exhaust gas must always be discharged outside.
• The equipment may only be used as a II 2D type device
TZIDC-220 in areas where the level of mechanical danger is
"low".
• For TZIDC-220 electrostatic charging caused by propagating
brush discharge should be prevented when the device is used
for applications involving combustible dust.
• For devices that are operated in an intrinsically safe manner,
cable and wire entries should be used that meet the
requirements of EN 60079-11 for Category II 2G as well as the
ambient temperature range.
• The ‘local communication interface’ (LCI) of the TZIDC-220
may only be operated at U
