Reference Architecture - AWIN GW120 Connectivity

with Control System

During normal operations, AWIN GW120 will be connected to a Modbus network.

It is used for communicating wireless instruments data to the control systems (such as PLC,
DCS). See

Figure 36

for illustration.

with FIM Software

The wireless devices connected to the AWIN GW120 gateway can be configured using ABB’s
FIM software. This software uses HART-IP protocol and connects to the AWIN GW120 gate-
way. See

Figure 37

for details. A firewall is recommended to be connected between field net-

work and plant network.
