Installing the accelerometers

Contents of this chapter

This chapter describes how to install the accelerometers for vibration
measurement.

Examine the accelerometer mounting location

The accelerometer is a single axis sensor that measures in only one direction, so
determine the best position to mount on the motor. The mounting locations can
differ based on the configuration. For example of mounting locations, see example
1 (page

) and example 2 (page

).

You can view the correct locations of the sensor in the ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor
mobile application, after selecting the profile for attaching the motor asset type
as shown in below figures.
